Design Shanghai「TALENTS」
「TALENTS」was initiated by Design Shanghai in 2020, inviting Frank Chou as the chief curator, aiming to build a complete, effective and open professional exhibition platform for young designers from the perspective of design industry ecology.
The product design industry in China is still in its infancy, in terms of design, education, practitioners, companies, media, laws and regulations, and other aspects. What Talents is really planning and designing is how to create a long-term effective ecological environment for young designers according to the objective primary stage of Chinese industry. At the same time, based on Design Shanghai's strong industrial and social influence, we hope to effectively help young designers at the beginning of their careers. We hope to create a pragmatic, non-interventionist exhibition platform that can guide the long-term development of young designers according to objective rules.
As the curator, for Frank, 「TALENTS」is not just an exhibition in a narrow sense, but also a design work. Different from previous years, 「TALENTS」takes "Chinese relationship" as its theme, imagining the concept and form of "banquet" and even "circle" in Chinese culture, inviting everyone to We invite everyone to gather in a circle and sit down. It is a roundtable meeting where all the exhibitors can communicate with each other equally and freely when they enter the「TALENTS」exhibition area. It is both a direct presentation of Chinese relations and an opportunity platform for open talks with the world, pulling brands, sponsors and designers closer to each other and truly supporting contemporary young creativity.

2021 Design Shanghai「TALENTS」
Following the invitation of curating the 1st TALENTS area on 2020, this year Frank Chou continues to discover and train Chinese young designer, and to build a ecosystem. “TALENTS” area is a platform based on the background and resource of Design Shanghai which grafting new generation of designers on industry, incubating young design power, and promoting the change of creator. About the guideline, it cohered with Design Shanghai, and also focused on the growing young design power, hold the brand value of people oriented design and the brand mission of Letting Design Grow, to build a grand design occasion facing the industry which can be international, diversified, and educational, communicational, heuristic and perspective.
